All things Yarnish
Yesterday was dubbed 'Natasha Day' at Yarnish.
I had my debut as part of the Yarnish Makes design team with not 1 but 2 patterns! Plus the release of my very own Lola (made by Garn Manufaktur) colourway.
If you have never heard of Yarnish, it is an online yarn store based in Western Sydney, Australia. Nicole owns and runs the store. The customer service is amazing! Each month they have selected Open days and sometimes there are classes people can attend to, such as weaving, Tunisian or amigurami.
Back in August i was asked to design a top for Yarnish by Emma, head of the Yarnish makes design team. I was so excited and knew that i needed to design a summer top that was comfortable, stylish and plus sized friendly.
The design idea was to have a lacy yoke and solid body with basic shaping. I loved the look of the treble cross stitch, so i worked out how to make the stitch work for a raglan style garment and went from there.
The top then is worked in a continuous round, therefore no side seam. It can be worn with jeans, legging (tunic length) or a skirt.
It has positive ease around the waist and hips, meaning for us plus sized women we can hide the parts that can show in a tighter fitting top.
The top is written in size XS (30") to 4XL (58") bust. It uses 1 Scheepjes Whirl and a matching Whirlette. For 2XL to 4XL, 2 Whirlettes may be needed if you wish to make yours a little longer than the pattern states.
Some Whirl/Whirlette Combos are as follows -

When i joined the Yarnish makes design team, i was asked to make an ornament for the 2019 Yarnish Christmas Crochet-along. All the more christmassy ones had already been thought of, so i settled for a poinsettia flower. You ask what is that? Well it is also known as a Christmas flower. I wanted the design to reflect a memory from my childhood. You can read about the design a little about me HERE on the yarnish blog.
If you have not heard of the 12 days of Yarnish CAL, you can buy the PDF e-book for just $15 at Yarnish
There are designs from Katt of Bluebuggs handmade, Renee of Shinygurumi, Melody of Artefacts Crochet Design, Emma of Emma Wilkinson designs, Tegain of Howes the Crochet, Mari of Gray day Crochet and Mrs yarnish herslef, Nicole.
The patterns range from motifs, amigurami, mandala and ornaments. So $15 for 12 patterns is quite a bargain, working out at $1.25 per pattern!
As part of the Yarnish makes design team, designers are asked to choose colours to create their very own Lola colourway.
I love Blues, purple and mustard, so i added these to my colour choices. After shuffling them around a little i was happy with the order of them and gave Nicole my colour choices. The above photo is the result. It sort of looks like a sunset.
It has been a hit since its release on Tuesday and has sold out! But don't worry, Nicole orders the Lolas on a regular basis.
You can find all of the designers Lolas HERE
So there it all is. This week has been amazing. After months of secrecy i can finally share what an amazing yarn family i have been adopted into. I am so honered and grateful for the opportunity that Yarnish has given me and i hope to create more designs in the near future for them.
If you would like to follow Yarnish you can find them on Instagram, Facebook and their Facebook group, where every week Nicole and her daughter Shelby share what is new at Yarnish in a live video segment called Whats in the Box.
